Cuba’s Minister of Public Health to Discuss His Nation’s
Progress
In Prevention of STDs, Especially AIDS
Washington, DC –
Dr. Roberto Morales, Cuba’s Minister of Public Health, will discuss Cuba’s
program for preventing sexually transmitted diseases, especially HIV AIDS, at a
National Press Club Newsmakers news conference on July 1.
A committee of
independent experts assembled by the Pan American Health Organization/World
Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) which visited Cuba in March to analyze the
island nation’s progress in eliminating mother-to-child transmission of HIV and
congenital syphilis. Cuba is the first country in the world to initiate a
formal validation process for these diseases.

news conference is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1st at 10 a.m. in
the club’s Zenger Room, on the 13th Floor of the National Press
Building at 529 14th St., NW, Washington, D.C.
