Is Gun Carry Good for the Nation – and its Capital City?

Washington, DC – Should U.S. citizens be allowed to carry weapons?  All fifty states have laws on both the ownership of guns and the right to carry them.   The U.S. District Court ruled in July that Washington D.C.’s ban on the carrying of all weapons violated the Second Amendment. To comply with the ruling, the D.C. City Council is has rewritten thee law to require District residents to demonstrate a need to carry a concealed weapon.

George Lyon, one of the litigants whose suit led to the overthrow of the District law, and Paul Helmke, former President and CEO off the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, will discuss whether "gun carry" is beneficial to society at a National Press Club Newsmakers news conference scheduled for Thursday, October 9 at 3 p.m. in the club’s Zenger Room, on the 13th Floor of the National Press Building, 529 14th St. NW, Washington DC 20045.

Like all Newsmaker events, this news conference is open to credentialed press and NPC club members, free of charge. No advance registration is required.
